Breaking: Georgia football set to sign TE on as potential Brock Bowers replacement

Tight end Benjamin Yurosek is slated to visit Georgia Football

Yurosek recently entered the transfer portal after four years with Stanford football. The six-foot-four, 242-pound tight end only played six games in 2023 due to an injury. He tallied 239 receiving yards, 16 receptions and one touchdown. Regardless, Yurosek was still named honorable mention by the Pac-12 despite his season being cut short.

His best year with Stanford would arguably be in 2021, where as a sophomore, Yurosek tallied 42 catches for 653 receiving yards. He also finished the season with three touchdowns.

Georgia football looks to bounce back

Yurosek’s visit to Georgia comes as the Bulldogs had a near-perfect season, culminated by a massive blowout win over Florida State at the Orange Bowl. Georgia was making a run for the CFP and a third straight National Championship until their final regular season game ended in heartbreak at the hands of Alabama football.

Regardless, coach Kirby Smart is now eyeing Benjamin Yurosek as a potential replacement for Brock Bowers. The Bulldogs are surely hungry for a bounce-back year, considering how their bid for a three-peat fell short. If they do manage to land the tight end, then they’re one step closer to being on the top of the college football scene once again.

Former Alabama safety Jake Pope has committed to Georgia. The 6-foot-1, 192-pound defensive back has three years of eligibility remaining.

Pope announced his decision on social media, tweeting, “Comin’ home!!! Committed” with a graphic of Pope wearing a Georgia jersey.

Pope played in 11 games for Alabama in 2023. He mostly played on special teams but played on defense against Kentucky as well as Chattanooga. He did not record any statistics.

Pope did not play as a true freshman in 2022.

Pope was a standout at Buford High School and was a four-star prospect in the 2022 class. He was considered the No. 30 prospect in the state of Georgia per 247Sports and was also considered the No. 28 safety by the site.

Pope helped the Wolves win multiplate state championships as a varsity football player and was also a highly-regarded baseball prospect. He chose Alabama over Georgia, Notre Dame, and North Carolina.

247Sports national recruiting analyst Cooper Petagna wrote the following evaluation of Pope in August 2021:

“A three-phase player, Pope shows the ability to project to the receiver and or safety position at the next level. Possesses growth potential to add additional weight to his frame. Displays good athleticism in all three phases. Exhibits good short area burst and explosiveness on both sides of the ball while possessing outstanding play speed. Plays with very little wasted motion, clean in and out of breaks. Demonstrates excellent instincts in all three phases. Flashes natural ball skills on both sides of the ball. Shows some ability as a playmaker in the return game and after the catch. Will have an immediate impact on special teams. Versatile athlete that wins with instincts. Plays bigger than he is.”
