BREAKING: Las Vegas Raiders Set To Hire Big Name At Head Coach
The Las Vegas Raiders have been in the middle of some pretty big rumors regarding who their next head coach will be. With big names on the market like Jim Harbaugh and Bill Belichick, there have been many speculations and rumors stating that the team will make a big move. However, the team looks like they have made up their mind on who they will bring in as their next head coach and Raiders fans are ecstatic about the decision.
Las Vegas Raiders Bring Back Antonio Pierce
Las Vegas is expected to bring back their interim head coach Antonio Pierce for another season. Pierce took over as the head coach in the middle of the 2023 regular season after Josh McDaniels was fired by the organization. Since taking over, Pierce has amounted to a record of five wins and four losses and seems to have reignited the fire in the Raiders locker room.
Pierce has shown that he is more than capable as a head coach in the NFL, and Raiders fans have been calling for him to return all season long. Although his record could be better, he has been able to get Las Vegas to a winning record, including big wins over the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers. He has won over the respect of star players like wide receiver Davante Adams and edge rusher Maxx Crosby, so he has quickly become a fan favorite.
Big Names Still Available
With Pierce coming back to the Raiders, big names like Harbaugh and Belichick remain up for grabs for teams around the league, but none talked about more than the Chargers, Las Vegas’ divisional rival. Both coaches are the favorite to join Los Angeles according to several analysts and fans, which would quickly make the Raiders and Chargers rivalry even more exciting. Harbaugh will be getting an interview from Los Angeles as soon as next week, while Belichick’s future still seems up in the air.
It seems that Las Vegas fans and players are happy about keeping Pierce, and although nothing is officially set in stone, it seems like it will become a reality very soon. Do you think the Raiders made the correct decision on keeping Pierce, or should they have gone for one of the bigger names still available?
Raiders superstar confirms rumors of potential trade request
Las Vegas Raiders elite edge-rusher Maxx Crosby wants interim head coach Antonio Pierce back on the sidelines full-time, and he’s willing to go to great lengths to accomplish it.
Shortly after rumors spread that Crosby might force the Raider’s hand and request a trade if Pierce didn’t return, the three-time Pro Bowler all but confirmed the ultimatum on his podcast, “The Rush.”
“I wanna be a Raider for sure,” Crosby said. “But, if we go in a different direction, you know, there’s nothing that’s off the table.”
Crosby isn’t the only one campaigning for Pierce, who led the Raiders to a 5-4 record after taking over for the fired Josh McDaniels in Week 9. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that the Raiders’ locker room is “united” behind the linebackers coach-turned-head man.
Rapoport says the Raiders have yet to begin a head-coaching search and are still in the mix for big names like Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh. However, if they were to reject the player’s desire to have Pierce back to steer the ship, a mutiny may arise, dooming the new regime before it gets off the ground.
Crosby sounded understandably torn over the situation. While his desire to stay a Raider isn’t up for debate, he seems prepared to carry out his threat.
“I made it loud and clear that I want to be a Raider for life. I want to be here. I want to win here. I want to retire here,” Crosby said. “But if we go and start from scratch again, I mean, I gotta consider everything. I mean, everything.”
The 26-year-old has three seasons remaining on a four-year contract that will pay him $19 million in 2024 and $21 million in 2025 and 2026. However, the deal does include a potential out after the 2025 season.
If Crosby were to ask for his way out of Las Vegas, he would have no shortage of suitors. Although he and his teammates hope it never comes to that, and the Raiders ultimately bring Pierce back into the fold.
“At some point, you gotta do what’s right. For the fans, for the future,” Crosby said.
