Breaking: Defensive Lineman Picks Gators As Top School To Join After Detailed Offer
On Saturday, the Florida Gators hosted several prospects on campus for the first junior day of 2024 and several in-state prospects visited.
2025 defensive lineman Wilnerson Telemaque (6-5, 257, Opa Locka, FL. Monsignor Pace) was on campus and had a chance to meet with Billy Napier and new defensive line coach Gerald Chatman.
“The visit was great,” Telemaque said of his junior day visit. “I got to have one on one time with Coach Napier and Coach Chatman and I got to check out the basketball game and go to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.”
Telemaque was impressed by Chatman’s resume and his ability to relate to recruits but also the coaches helping Chatman impressed the defensive lineman.
“My first impression of Coach Chatman is that he’s a good dude,” he said of Chatman. “He’s one of the best defensive line coaches that I’ve been around and the guys he has with him are great too.”
After meeting with the coaches, Telemaque sat down with Napier and received the news that the Gators were offering him.
“Coach Napier offered me,” Telemaque said. “He said he loved my film and said I was good enough to be a Gator right now and then Coach Armstrong started showing some love too.”
Napier and defensive coordinator Austin Armstrong explained to Telemaque just how he would fit into the defense if he picked the Gators.
“They said I would be a perfect fit for them at the edge/outside linebacker coming off the edge to get the quarterback,” he said on where the staff wants him at. “I like the role and I think it’s a good fit for me. They want me in the role they have Kelby Collins in.”
Now that Florida has offered the defensive lineman, Telemaque says the Gators are sitting as one of his top schools.
“They’re one of my top schools now,” Telemaque said on where Florida stands with him. “It’s a school where I could see myself get developed for that next level and hopefully play on Sundays.”
Despite Florida, several other schools are recruiting Telemaque hard and he’s planning to visit those schools soon.
“West Virginia, Indiana, and Georgia Tech are recruiting me really hard,” he said. “I’m planning visits for them now.”
Gators ‘sitting pretty good’ with Top247 QB Antwann Hill Jr.
Florida hosted one of the top QB’s in the 2025 class on campus last weekend
One of the more high profile visitors to make their way to the University of Florida this past weekend for their first Junior Day this past weekend was Warner Robins (GA) Houston County 2025 four-star quarterback Antwann Hill Jr. He’s been to Gainesville several times over the course of his recruitment, and enjoyed the chance he got to reconnect with some of the coaches one again on his return.
“I felt great getting back in there to Florida,” Hill said. “It was my first stop on my list. It was a great visit. I got to sit down with Coach [Ryan] O’Hara and Coach [Billy] Napier. Talked a lot of football with them, and was able to take a lot of knowledge away from talking with them.”
