The CFL continues to see a run on its players heading to the NFL, with the Ottawa Redblacks saying goodbye to one of its own. NFL reporter Aaron Wilson reported that the Chicago Bears have signed defensive back Douglas Coleman III to a contract.

Coleman has spent the last two seasons playing for the Redblacks. In 2023, he racked up 60 defensive tackles, four sacks, three interceptions and two touchdowns in 17 games. The previous season, he recorded 18 tackles and one sack in just five games.

There has been one previous NFL stop Coleman, spending time with the Denver Broncos in the 2020 season. After training camp ended, he was among the players who were released during final roster cuts.

He recorded 141 tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack, 11 interceptions, 27 pass deflections, two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries in 47 games. Coleman had a workout with the Bears late last week before signing with the team. He became the second CFL player in the offseason to sign with a team after Montreal Alouettes wide receiver Austin Mack joined the Atlanta Falcons.
