Breaking: Gators remain in strong position to sign 190-pound QB

The Gators have gotten the young signal caller on campus several times already

After landing an offer from the Florida Gators this past summer, Tampa (Fla.) Bay Tech 2026 quarterback Logan Rodgers has been a consistent visitor to UF’s campus. He’s camped in front of the staff, visited for games, and also attended the Gators recruiting cookout last July. Each visit to Florida has brought something new and unique for him to see and experience.

He was able to see something a little different than trips past a few weeks ago, when he attended the Gators first Junior Day of the year. Though he’s familiar with The Swamp and its surroundings, there were still some things he had not seen in past trips when he came back for the Junior Day.

“I got to see more of the actual school itself,” Rogers said of his visit. “I got to go to the Hawkins Center, and that was new for me. I got to have some meetings with coaches, so that made a little bit more personal time. I got to sit in Coach [Billy] Napier’s office and talk with him. That was pretty cool. I got to see their recovery center, so that was pretty new and cool. A lot of things were the same, but it’s always good to get back to The Swamp. It’s all about building relationships with me, so that was good to get out there and get closer with them. Get some more face-to-face time.”

Preston has the Florida Gators as one of his “top schools”

Last Saturday, the Florida Gators hosted some prospects on campus for the first time for junior day including several guys who got to meet new defensive backs coach Will Harris for the first time.

2025 defensive back Major Preston (6-2, 185, Bradenton, FL. IMG) was one of those guys, and the Gators impressed him.

“My visit was very good,” Preston said of his junior day visit. “Talking to Coach Harris, the campus, the facilities, everything was great. Florida will definitely be a top school. This was my first time in Gainesville.”

Preston has been building a relationship with Harris since the new defensive backs coach offered him earlier this month.

“Me and Coach Harris have a good bond, we talked on the phone after he offered me,” Preston said of his relationship with Harris. “When I got on campus, he told me some great things and he’s a very good coach. I seen that off the meeting we had together and just everything he was telling me is what I wanted to hear.”

While on campus, Harris broke down film with Preston about how the Virginia native could fit into the Gators’ defense.

“We went over his Washington film, he used to be the DB coach at Washington,” he said of going over film with Harris. “We went over some backpedal stuff, where to tackle and how to tackle. About my game, he said he likes how physical I am, that’s what every coach says. I’m very physical and I agree with that.”

Next up for Preston will be another trip to Gainesville as the defensive back hopes to spend more time with Harris.

“I will be at Florida again this week,” he said. “I kind of just want to meet with Coach Harris one-on-one. I’m trying to build everything with him.”

The Gators have set the bar high for Harris early on as the IMG prospect says he also has interest in Michigan and Virginia Tech right now.

“After this visit to Florida, Florida will definitely be a top school,” Preston said on where Florida stands for him. “At the top of my list, they showed great love. Me and Coach Harris have that great bond together.”
