Kane Wommack bids official goodbye to South Alabama, Mobile
Kane Wommack still hasn’t been officially announced as defensive coordinator at Alabama, but the former South Alabama head coach did bid a heartfelt goodbye to his former team and city on Wednesday.
Is now up to Alabama to complete the deal with him.
Wommack released the following statement via Twitter/X, including the heading, “So Proud of our time in Mobile…Excited for our future in Tuscaloosa!!”:
“I can’t adequately express how deeply we love The University of South Alabama & the city of Mobile. The last 3 years have been a dream come true. Thank you, Jag Nation, for showing up, supporting us, and embracing our vision for the football program.
“Melissa and I, along with our sons, leave behind special friendships, and a part of our hearts that South Alabama captured like no place ever had before. We will be cheering from Tuscaloosa and still believing that, for South, the best days are still ahead. Keep you J’s Up! #OURCITY #LEO
“Gratefully,
“Kane Wommack”
Wommack also changed his Twitter/X bio to read “Defensive Coordinator / Linebackers @ Alabama.” He said on the day officially resigned from South Alabama (Jan. 16) that he was headed to Tuscaloosa to begin recruiting, and has been spotted out on the road with head coach Kalen DeBoer in recent days.
