West Linn (Ore.) 2027 cornerback Josiah Molden has seven offers, with Arizona State the most recent offer, all before his freshman year of high school has even seen spring football.

On Saturday, Molden took an unofficial visit to Oregon, the school his father, Alex Molden, starred before becoming a first round draft pick in 1996.

spent much of the day with head coach Dan Lanning and said he’s eager to see who the Ducks will hire asHe  the DB coach with the departure of Demetrice Martin

It was actually super fun,” said Molden.  “I got to meet the coaches and staff, we watched a cool little hype video, we walked around campus a lot and then went in to some defensive and offensive meetings.  And then we went to watch the basketball game.  Overall, I loved it.”

The meetings were largely with Lanning and Joe Lorig, who recruits the area.

“I met with coach Lanning for a bit, I met with the offensive coordinator, Will Stein and then with coach Lorig, the special teams coach and we had a little sit down and talk and then ate lunch,” said Molden.  “Coach Lorig was the one who offered me.”

Molden said he may squeeze in visits to Oregon State and Washington before the dead period starts but if not, will do those in the spring.

“I think I might go to Washington at some point and then Oregon State,” said Molden.  “I don’t know if I’m going to be going on as many visits as I am camps, because I need to do college camps and then get down and camp in the South and East and in Texas.  I’m really looking forward to talking with the new staffs at Oregon State and Washington though.”

Colorado has started to pick up interest in him while he’s hoping to hear more from Michigan State with Martin there and Jonathan Smith, who offered him at Oregon State and also helped recruit his brother, Elijah, to Washington, in East Lansing.

“I’m looking forward to talking more with Colorado,” said Molden.  “I like the coaching staff and there is a good connection with them so I want to see what its like out there.  Playing for coach Prime (Deion Sanders) is very intriguing because he’s a DB and that would be a big reason.”

Molden said his first year on varsity, starting on the state semifinalists as a freshman, was a confidence boost for him.

“The jump was definitely big and the competition level was different,” said Molden.  “I really liked it but unfortunately, we lost in the semifinals, which was not the plan, but we’re already working for next year.”

Molden is playing basketball during the winter and then he’ll do track in the spring, with plans to run the 100m, 200m and long jump.

The 5-11 3.4, 170-pounder said he’s working to add 10-15 pounds in the offseason.

“I think I can make it to 180-185, that will be kind of a push, but hopefully I can keep growing and if I can do that and get faster, I’ll be good,” said Molden.

With three years until he needs to make a decision, he’s soaking it all in and not looking for an early decision.

“I feel like I can take as much time as I need, because anything can change in 3-4 years,” said Molden.  “I’m still a freshman so I just want to keep connecting with colleges, with staff and players and build relationships.”
