Notre Dame Has Always Been A Dream For 2025 LB Alex Tatsch
The 2025 linebacker board continued to expand on Thursday when an offer was extended to Greater Latrobe (Pa.) High School star defender Alex Tatsch. He is one of the big offseason risers at the position, having heard from several big time programs. He got to know Notre Dame a lot better on Thursday. As it turns out, they are a program that Tatsch has wanted to hear from for a long time now. “I was super excited about getting the offer,” Tatsch told Irish Breakdown. “Notre Dame was a college I’ve always dreamed about as a kid.”
Max Bullough was the coach who extended the offer to Tatsch, and made a great early impression on him. The Pennsylvania native talked a little bit about that interaction and how Bullough sees him helping on the next level. “Coach Bullough seems like a great guy,” Tatsch explained. “I love the intensity he has. He said he really likes my versatility as a linebacker. We have had a chance to talk ball a little. I know he also really likes my knowledge of the game.” It’s still pretty early in the process but overall, Tatsch does want to find a home pretty quickly. He is already eyeing a trip to South Bend, which would be big to really understand the potential fit. Things are moving quickly.
“I want to commit sooner rather than later,” he said. “I’m planning to get over to Notre Dame. Not sure what day but we will get up there.” With a shorter timeline in mind, Notre Dame will have to move quickly. They have made a tremendous early impression. Combine that for his admiration for the Irish program for a long time, and they should have a chance in the end. With the recent offer from the Irish, Tatsch continues to rack up some impressive offers from some prominent programs, sitting as one of the fast risers at linebacker in the class. Some of the top teams that have extended offers include the Irish, USC, Penn State, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Virginia Tech, Stanford, Maryland, South Carolina, Kentucky, Pitt, Boston College, Duke, Cincinnati, Syracuse and West Virginia among others.
Tatsch has also seen his recruiting ranking start to get a bump as well. He is currently rated as a four-star recruit on the On3 Industry
ranking and on Rivals. The latter sees him the highest, currently sitting as the No. 220 overall player and No. 18 linebacker in the 2025 recruiting class. The 6-2, 210-pound linebacker had a really nice junior season. In 11 games, Tatsch recorded 111 total tackles, nine tackles for loss and four sacks. He also recorded four interceptions and forced three fumbles as well. Tatsch was also utilized at running back a little bit offensively. He rushed the ball 73 times for 501 yards and seven touchdowns, averaging 6.5 yards per reception. As a pass receiver, Tatsch also hauled in seven receptions for 102 yards and another score.
