Jahmile Addae Is Leaving Miami To Become The Buffalo Bills Cornerbacks Coach
The Miami Hurricanes will need to replace their defensive backs coach.
Jahmile Addae coached Miami’s DB’s under Mario Cristobal in 2022 and 2023. Prior to his arrival in Coral Gables, he coached defensive backs at Georgia in 2021 and was co-defensive coordinator at West Virginia in 2020.
Addae has just been hired to coach cornerbacks for the Buffalo Bills. This will be his first NFL coaching job. Bruce Feldman from The Athletic was first to report the news.
After Addae’s first season in Miami, cornerbacks Tyrique Stevenson (Bears) and DJ Ivey (Bengals) were both drafted. Miami is expected to have two safeties, Kam Kinchens and James Williams, drafted this April.
This will become the second coaching vacancy that Miami will need to fill during this offseason. Miami is reportedly hiring USF running game coordinator Matt Merritt to replace former RB’s coach Tim Harris Jr.
Miami also lost GM of Football Operations Alonzo Highsmith to the New England Patriots front office.
We’re yet to see a list of possible Addae replacements emerge. A popular name among Miami fans will be former Hurricanes cornerback and analyst Demarcus Van Dyke. “DVD” recently accepted a job at USF.
It’s worth noting that Mario Cristobal tends to conduct his coaching searches in almost complete silence. Few, if anyone, had mentioned Merritt as a candidate to replace Harris.
