Florida recruiting notes from Under Armour Orlando

Live Updates: FSU recruits at the Under Armour Orlando Camp on Sunday

The Under Armour camp series kicked off their tour for the year in Orlando on Sunday. Several talented prospects made their way to compete throughout the day. Many of those names are already on the Florida Gators radar. Swamp247 was on hand Sunday, and has some Gators recruiting notes coming out of the event.

– Despite his early commitment to Florida State back in December, the Florida Gators are not going to slow their efforts with five-star offensive lineman Solomon Thomas. In fact, when asked what teams are pressing hardest to flip him, Florida was named along with LSU and Miami. The Gators had gotten Thomas on campus several times before his commitment to FSU, but his most recent trip came last month after his verbal pledge elsewhere. He noted that most recent trip to Florida being his best one yet, as he not only got time seeing the school more in-depth on a Junior Day, but also got to spend time around several of the current players. That trip for Thomas was a three day stay in Gainesville, and was one where it opened his eyes more to the Gators. While he noted his commitment to FSU as strong, Thomas does envision himself taking more unofficial visits this spring, and said official visits will happen down the line.

Another talented offensive lineman with a lofty early ranking on Florida’s radar is four-star Ziyare Addison. He also came away with MVP honors along the offensive line on Sunday as well. The Gators extended an offer this past August, and is a school he mentioned that has picked up their recruiting efforts with as of late. Billy Napier stopped by his school last month, and recently had a long conversation with him. Offensive line coaches Rob Sale and Darnell Stapleton are also involved here as well. He’s able to play all five spots along the offensive line, and it’s that versatility that stands out the most to college coaches. He’s getting eyes at tackle at the next level with 36.5 inch arms and athleticism. Florida also loves the he wrestles and also runs the 200M on the track as well.

He plans to visit Florida sometime in the spring, but is working to finalize a date for that. He’s visited Florida before, but admitted he’s not seen the school in depth. He plans to narrow some top schools around March or April and then take official visits in the following months. Teams like Florida State, Penn State, and Oregon have done a good job staying consistent and offered early. Others like Oklahoma, Florida, Syracuse, and Miami are some others that have been consistently in pursuit as well. So far one official visit has been set, which is to Clemson on May 31, but Penn State is another planned, but a date is still being finalized.
