Breaking: ‘Bold Move’ Sees Raiders Initiate Negotiations to Trade For $140 Million WR, Dumps Davante Adams
The Las Vegas Raiders have the 13th overall pick in the NFL Draft this year and have multiple options for what to do with the pick. They could trade back in the draft and pick up more picks.
They could stay where they are in the draft and still find a top talent to add to their offensive line, linebacker, or cornerback rooms. Or, they could trade up in the draft.
With them wanting to add a quarterback, the idea of the Raiders trading up in the draft will continue to be suggested until draft day. Las Vegas has many positions of need on their roster. While trading up may not be the best idea, it isn’t out of the question.
If the Raiders decide to trade up in the draft, many expect it to be for one of the top quarterbacks. However, ESPN writer Aaron Schatz thinks the Raiders could make a bold trade on draft day for a top talent. Schatz’s suggestion would be an unexpected twist for the Raiders for many reasons.
“Is [Davante] Adams happy in Las Vegas? He says yes, but his role could change with a new coaching staff,” Schatz said. “It might make sense for the Raiders to move on from Adams and his big contract now that he’s turning 32 this year.”
“So how about trying to replace Adams with coveted WR Harrison? A big trade up the draft board would help the Cardinals improve their receiving corps with Adams while also giving them the 13th overall pick to improve their league-worst defense from 2023. The Raiders would get perhaps the best-receiving prospect in years at a rookie contract salary.”
The Raiders have made it known they have no intentions of trading their All-Pro wide receiver. It is almost unthinkable that they would trade him, let alone draft his replacement instead of a quarterback that high in the draft.
The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
Antonio Pierce Reveals His First Message Upon Taking Over Raiders
When the Las Vegas Raiders fired head coach Josh McDaniels, it was clear that the organization needed a cultural reset.
The Raiders struggled mightily to find an identity under McDaniels and as a result, they suffered embarrassing losses during the 2023 NFL season.
Las Vegas turned to linebackers coach Antonio Pierce to step in for McDaniels and named him the interim head coach for the remainder of the regular season.
Pierce was widely respected in the locker room because of his ability to relate and communicate with the players and was lauded for his realness.
In a sit-down video, Pierce revealed the first message he sent to the players as soon as he was named interim head coach, via the team’s official Twitter account.
“We got nine games left,” Pierce said. “We can write our own script.”
In the clip, Pierce said he gave each player a blank sheet of paper and told them to write down what they wanted to happen the rest of the way.
The tactic worked as the Raiders were able to pull themselves together and finish the year with a 5-4 record.
Thanks to his efforts, Pierce was named the franchise’s next head coach and will now have a full offseason to rebuild the team in his image.
The early returns have been positive for Las Vegas as the roster and fanbase seem to support Pierce 100 percent.
The 2024 NFL season will go a long way in determining Pierce’s viability as the Raiders’ head coach, but so far he’s said and done all the right things.
