Breaking: Indianapolis Colts Steal $65 Million Super Bowl Champion in Massive Free Agency

With the Kansas City Chiefs facing a tough decision with regards to Chris Jones and L’Jarius Sneed this offseason, the Indianapolis Colts could have the chance to steal the latter from the reigning Super Bowl champions.

Colts Projected to Sign CB L'Jarius Sneed in Free Agency

Sure enough, however, it won’t be easy and cheap.

L’Jarius Sneed To Indianapolis Colts?

The Colts finished the 2023 season at the bottom 10 in defensive rating. They have an average passing defense, but their running defense leaves much to be desired. Overall, Indianapolis could really use some boost on that end.

Having said that, Sneed could be the perfect fit for them. The 27-year-old is one of the top CBs set to be available in the market, and a Colts team with playoff aspirations can definitely benefit from a proven winner on the field.

Sneed can still improve his game and work on avoiding penalties, but his aggressive nature makes him a pest for offenses.

Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports proposed the idea of the Colts pursuing Sneed in his “free agency mock draft,” highlighting the need for Indianapolis to “inject some proven playmaking” in their secondary. Here’s what he wrote:

“With Chris Jones set to cost the Chiefs a pretty penny, Sneed figures to sneak onto the market. The Colts, meanwhile, are eager to inject some proven playmaking into their secondary, making him their No. 1 cover man.”

As mentioned, should Sneed become available, it’s not only the Colts who would be interested in him. Sneed is a two-time Super Bowl winner, and he has proven he can step up when it matters most. Other contenders wouldn’t miss the chance of chasing him if given the opportunity.

L’Jarius Sneed’s Free Agency Market Value

Sneed is expected to command a four-year, $65 million deal, putting his market value at around $16.3 million per year, via Spotrac.

Indianapolis can afford him for sure, although it remains a question if they would be willing to pay him that much. But if the Colts really want him, and considering the potential competition for Sneed’s services, they might have no other choice but to pay up.
