Breaking: Former Mets Pitcher Arrested

A former New York Mets pitcher faced trouble soon after starting a new career as a Nevada police officer. Chasen Bradford, 34, was arrested for drunk driving just one day after being sworn in with the Henderson Police Department.

Bradford, who had recently graduated from the police academy along with 13 others, was arrested on March 22, 2024. Reports state that he was observed driving erratically, hitting medians, and swerving on the road.

Police stopped Bradford’s truck around 10:23 p.m. and conducted field sobriety tests, which he reportedly failed. Initially claiming to have had only two beers, Bradford later admitted to consuming 5 or 6 throughout the day. His blood alcohol content (BAC) was measured at.104 during the first test, exceeding the legal limit of.08 in Nevada.

The Henderson Police Department swiftly terminated Bradford’s employment, as he was still on probation. Bradford had joined the department in September 2023.

Before his law enforcement career, Bradford played professional baseball. The Mets drafted him in 2011, and he made his MLB debut in 2017. Bradford retired from baseball after stints with the Mets and the Seattle Mariners in July 2022
