Breaking: Tottenham also join the race to sign Leeds £38m star after promotion to premier league
Promotion to the Premier League is certain to determine the future of a number of Leeds United players and Tottenham are interested in taking advantage for one star if the Whites do not go up.
The play-offs await Daniel Farke’s men after Leeds failed to finish in the top two of the Championship this season. Leeds now have to fight it out in the play-offs to join Leicester and Ipswich in being promoted.
The Whites begin their play-off campaign with a trip to Norwich, Farke’s old side, on Sunday afternoon. Southampton meanwhile, who beat Leeds on the final day of the regular season, take on West Brom.
Failure to get promotion is sure to see the likes of Crysencio Summerville, Willy Gnonto, Illan Meslier and more consider their future at Elland Road with The 49ers likely needing to sell if they don’t get promoted.
A drop in parachute payments and the tight stronghold of Financial Fairplay will surely mean Leeds may have to cash in one one or two big players and Summerville could be one the Whites are forced to sell.
A new report claims Tottenham could look to take advantage and try to sign Summerville from Leeds, among many other clubs. Here is what the report says:
Tottenham could look to sign Leeds star Crysencio Summerville
Ange Postecoglou is renowned for his preference of having quick players that are good on the counter attack with his Spurs side best playing on the counter and exploring space in behind opposing defences.
Summerville has already been linked with the likes of Aston Villa and Liverpool and Stephen Warnock thinks he will struggle to reject a manager like Unai Emery if the Spaniard comes calling this summer.
This week, Serie A giants Juventus and Napoli were added to the growing list of admirers for the Dutch flyer. Now, Sport.fr claim Tottenham and Newcastle are also interested in the £38m-rated attacker.
Leeds star Summerville shares same agent as Clement Lenglet
Summerville threw himself onto the scenes last term under Jesse Marsch when he scored the winner against Liverpool at Anfield and got the better of Virgil van Dijk to score and hand Leeds a 2-1 win.
This season, he has won the Championship Player of the Season award and that is likely to see his representatives working around the clock this summer, an agency that Tottenham have worked with.
Indeed, Summerville is represented by Wasserman and they are the same agency that represent ex-Spurs defender Clement Lenglet after the Frenchman spent last season on loan at Spurs before joining Villa.
