Dundee United owner sends new pictures for stadium new look ahead of next season
Dundee have announced plans for a new “stadium campus” in the city along with a stunning concept image.
The Dark Blues are keen to find a modern new home with Dens Park showing its age. The club have appointed a firm of architects to work on the design, and they have now given fans a glimpse of what the future could look like in the blue half of the City of Discovery, with a planning application to be lodged immediately.
Located just yards from the home of city rivals Dundee United, Dens has been Dundee’s home since 1899. However, there is a realisation that the club will have to upgrade their stadium and facilities in order to reach its potential. They today released a statement outlining their vision for a new, multi-purpose venue that will be able to host concerts and provide a base for community sports, as well as Premiership football.
It read: “The owners of Dundee Football Club are today giving fans a glimpse of the future with the release of an exciting new design concept for the Camperdown Stadium Development campus. The vision has been created by Holmes Miller Architects, who earlier this year were appointed by the club to work on the stadium design, in collaboration with Dundee-based LJRH Architects.
“The new stadium will have an expected capacity of more than 12,500 supporters. The design concept released today will be sure to capture the imagination of fans of all generations as the club aim to enhance the matchday experience and provision within the multi-use venue, which will also host music concerts and other major entertainment events.
“Plans include a safe standing area in the home end, installation of state-of-the-art LED screens, and tiered hospitality offerings for all fans to enjoy as part of the experience, including a 250-capacity brewhall.
