Celtic Boss completes signing of 18 year old striker from Italian league deal worth….
Celtic fans gave a warm welcome to Kasper Schmeichel – and are praying there won’t be a fond farewell to their other great Dane after a 4-0 romp over DC United, writes Michael Gannon in the American capital.
The new keeper hopped off the plane to watch the Hoops dish out capital punishment to DC United in a comfortable win that could have been much more.
And it was his Denmark teammate Matt O’Riley who stole the show with a first half double before the returning Scotland squad men who rounded off a solid night’s work as Brendan Rodgers’s side went through the gears at the Audi Field.
In-demand O’Riley – who has a host of teams on his case – was a cut above and then James Forrest showed why so many folk couldn’t believe the snub he got from national boss Steve Clarke at the Euros with a sensational assist for Mikey Johnston and then a goal himself. Johnson also missed a penalty late on but young full backs Matthew Anderson and Colby Donovan took their big chance to impress while wingman Nicolas Kuhn and Luis Palma also looked sharp.
