90s Rangers hero tells all about the Champions League gravediggers at odds with their own who have to sell top stars

A club at odds with its own supporters who face having to flog off top stars. Sounds familiar right? But it seems Rangers aren’t the only side facing a summer of turmoil.

 

Ibrox chairman John Bennett might have a bunch of grumpy Bears on his back but at least he’s not having to deal with Partizan Belgrade’s notorious Gravediggers. The ultras group are famed for their extreme hooligan antics so spare a thought for the club’s general director Milos Vazura, who has found himself repeatedly at loggerh

And just as Gers have been forced to watch Celtic sweep to trophy after trophy, Partisan have been left peering through the cracks in their fingers as Eternal Derby rivals Red Star ran amok, racking-up seven straight league crowns.

Like everywhere, the fans have a chance to have a say when they go to the stadium. When you buy a ticket, you have a chance to make your voice heard. But it’s not easy to run a club like Partizan.

 

“Like Red Star, they are always expected to be at the top of the league – just like Rangers and Celtic. If you’re not top of the league or winning trophies, that’s not good enough for the supporters and that’s not easy for the people running the club.”
