18 Year old on cusp of breaking all-time F1 record in Belgian GP

Max Verstappen can break an all-time F1 record in the 2024 Belgian Grand Prix – if he wins the race.

Having qualified fastest, Verstappen cannot take up pole position owing to a 10-place grid penalty for taking a fifth internal combustion engine of the season.

It is a trick Red Bull has done in the two previous Spa races, with Verstappen winning from 14th and sixth, respectively.

He starts 11th in the 2024 race, and if he wins, he can break an all-time record he jointly holds with Fernando Alonso.

It is for the most wins from different grid positions, with the two world champions currently joint-top on nine different positions won from.

Both have seven wins from inside the top 10, with two places outside the first five-rows, and are above five fellow world champions with 21 titles between them…
