Net binnen: Sleutelspeler van KV Mechelen mist vandaag tegen Royal Antwerp
Bosuilstadion will host the Jupiler Pro League encounter between Antwerp and KV Mechelen. The last time out in a league game, the two teams ended up on the losing end. Which side will pick themselves and win this one?
Antwerp have shown they are what many predicted they would be, strong enough to be in the top half but not as good as the sides challenging for the title. They’ve lost twice, to Anderlecht and Club Brugge, while beating Charleroi and Sint Truiden.
They will be without Denis Odoi for this clash after his red card against his former side Club Brugge. Mechelen are still searching for their first win, and have also been goal shy with just four goals so far.
With Lion Lauberbach out, they are short of striking options. They will also be without Zinho Vanheusden who is once again injured. Last season Mechelen were unbeaten against Antwerp, drawing 0-0 at home and winning 1-0 away.
Antwerp will look to return to winning ways in this fixture following a defeat to Club Brugge last weekend. In the meantime, that defeat made it the second time this team will lose a league encounter this season, having suffered a 1-2 defeat to Anderlecht. Yet, the home team secured wins over Charleroi and St. Truiden in two of their matches this season, which give them six points from a possible 12. In the standings, Antwerp are seated 6th, scoring eight goals and conceding 4.
